Taking the First Steps

Present: Be present in therapy and in your life. Take note of your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. This will help you gain insight into any individual or generational patterns you may have.

Ownership: Take ownership of your actions, or lack thereof, your emotions, and your choice to participate in your own therapy.

Work: Therapy is not just once a week. The real work is done in your everyday life. Consistency is key!

Education: Part of therapy is education. Sometimes the hardest part is being told about yourself. But if you’re open to the process, you can listen to the resources that your therapist will provide. Your therapist does not know everything, contrary to what many may think. We listen and learn when you teach us about your individual life experience. There’s only one of you, and we love what makes you uniquely you. So tell us to teach us!

Resourceful: This is an investment for yourself. So anything and everything that you learn will only help to further your growth in life.
